« Back to News Earth of the Future...PUBLIC, PRIVATE VENTURE: A Proclamation to our government. 8/21/2008 A few weeks ago, one of Idaho's House Representatives formed an informal group from "LEEDers" , a sub-association of the USGBC - Idaho Chapter, to look at Sustainability and proposed legislation. In taking roles to research best practices for living sustainably, THIS is an attempt put some structure to a proposed model for change. (Credit to Green Foundation's library & book by Linda Hubbard: Conscious Evolution) By no means is it perfect. The government can not be expected to do everything for a Sustainable Future. But the government has the data we need, and private industry has the ability. Hold on....(Idaho)... ...Where as: (here's the bottom line) MODEL I. Federal Database & Media Facilitation of "Whats Good, What Works" II. State Oversight and Assurance of Natural Resource Inventory Sustainability III. County, City and University Accountability for maintaining inventory IV. Sustainable Neighborhoods: Earth as Biosphere, a system of renewable and closed loop energy cycles that supports cradle to cradle, waste equals food society. Where food, water, soil and air become inalienable rights for all citizens of (Idaho) set by example to America and the World. Where private enterprise, funding and the people join in conscious evolution for the planet. (here's the Proclamation) - The Worlds population will double in 40 years - World resources are limited and over utilized from the Industrial age - The World is an finite resource - Food sources are threatened by commercial globalization - Energy consumption of the worlds development may exceed a days solar capacity (check with IDL) - World sustainability and current systems are broken. - Capitalisms development is unchecked and unabated We the people of (Idaho) desire to vision a future attained through sustainable development localized at the municipal level, supported by State Infrastructure. First and foremost for the Peoples of (Idaho), the natural resources and the wildlife habitat. Set forth on this _______ day of ________ 200_, a new model to replace financial incentives of the 1980s which have failed to economize energy conservation in building construction at a level able to create sustainability. We envision, in cooperation with Federal Agencies and an initiative for the Nations Best Practices in Sustainability: - The State of Idaho assessment for all Natural Resource Inventories to ensure future generations reserves in perpetuity - The State of Idaho funding of advanced infrastructure for power, travel and sewer - The State of Idaho management of municipal and regional tax consequences for electric grid usage and provision of mandates for sustainable building - The State of Idaho as a clearing house for carbon credits and responsibility for clean air - The State of Idaho mandates for clean potable water, aquifer recharge, and safe water stored in waterways and rivers In that, Idahos efforts are but one of each in the Nations States an Office of Sustainability feeding the Database for best practices in every field of knowledge. That complex systems are decomposed to sustain the highest priorities described in the preamble herein. Land, Water, and Air. By virtue of architects, science, democracy and technology of renewable energy systems, local co-ops for preserving farmlands, local food supply and water conservation hold highest esteem for their ability to: - Preserve prime farm land and halt urban sprawl - Provide employment to local regions and sustainable wages for living - Simple technology, available immediately, repeatable throughout the nation - Provides national security though local sustainability for energy and food - Creates energy rather than consumes - Conserves natural resources through use of advanced planning and building techniques - Communities, new and retrofit, sustain net zero energy in local food production, clean water and air are by products of an agrarian society MODEL I.
