 « Back to News Idaho Environmental Forum 8/8/2007 Idaho's Environmental Forum today was sobering. The scientific proof from tree rings and ice drilling can not be refuted, and the scientific community no longer disagrees: Global warming is real and it is happening at an alarming rate. Hearing our leaders speak today about the forest fires, disease and insect infestation, vegetation's ability to keep up with the climate change, melting glaciers...on and on. "Step it UP"? Better Start Running! When an impending doom begins debate within a society, backed by conclusive scientific data, can a demise of civilization be warded off? When purity of thought is no longer prevalent, and society is offered all it may consume by the economic model, is the collapse of society unreversable? When our infrastructure crumbles beneath our feet, and the media is still driving at the motor vehicle, will we still be clicking the internet? When we mechanize and manually assist wildlife, shoring the population of dwindling few, does the ecosystem suffocate? When geopolitical systems fail, and threads of agency synergy unravels, When all the riches of the world matter no more, Remember: Mankind can not keep using natural resources and polluting the Earth at its current, unsustainable rate. In a classic story of good vs. evil, doesn't the good guy always win? |
