 Is the Trend your Friend? Here's what the numbers should tell you. 11/30/2007 Predicting trends is like using the stock market's moving averages as indicators. Unlike fashion trends or building trends, the "sustainable" trend is not a new. There is one trend whose cycle is longer than a few centuries. And the trend is coming out of the dip. Green is going mainstream, but we're really just returning to the basics. Standard construction methodologies, techniques, and resulting buildings or homes of today will quickly become obsolete and loose value to more Energy Efficient, Energy Star or LEED Certified construction buildings and homes. The Trend? Energy conservation. It is the foundation of green building because less fossil fuels are expended building and maintaining a comfortable environment. The Trend? Integration. Use of team work and professionals to produce and market a more sustainable living and working environment. The public? We are becoming more educated every day about sustainable living.
